Randolph-Lucas House demolition issue removed from Board of Zoning Adjustment’s agenda

The request to allow demolition of Buckhead’s historic Randolph-Lucas House was pulled from Thursday’s noon agenda of the Atlanta Board of Zoning Adjustment while an alternative solution is being sought by involved parties.

A statement posted on the website of the Buckhead Heritage Society said the issue is being deferred while parties explore a solution that does not involve demolishing the house, which is located on the property of the 2500 Peachtree Road Condominiums.

Reportedly, more information will be available after the parties involved in the negotiations complete a memorandum of understanding, a multilateral agreement between parties.

At last week’s Neighborhood Planning Unit B meeting, the group’s chair Sally Silver, announced that a meeting of concerned parties had taken place that Tuesday and that there appeared to be a consensus among those at the meeting to attempt to save the historic house by possibly moving it to a new location.

Silver even said possible new locations for the house had been identified, although she did not identify those locations.
