The Fulton County Commission unanimously voted down 7-0 a
proposed .51mill property tax increase at its July 11 meeting.
The increase would have raised the current rate from 10.281
mills to 10.791 mills and was proposed to pad the revenue lost due to decreased
property values, which totals a 14 percent decline in revenue for Fulton County.
Several commissioners expressed that the government should be
forced to streamline its operations and not rely on taxpayers.
“We have to do some additional belt squeezing,” Chairman John
Eaves said.
