Here’s a place to chill out on this Saturday, June 23. Slow Food Atlanta will hold its Sixth
Annual Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social from 12:30 to 2 p.m., following the close
of the Peachtree Road Farmers Market on Saturday.
Grab a spoon or bring your own and taste a variety of homemade ice
creams and sorbets created by 25 renowned local chefs and ambitious amateurs
competing for the best flavor. After tasting the frozen treats, market goers
will cast votes for their favorite flavors. Tickets, which include a taste of each flavor and a ballot, are $15 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 10 and free for children five and under. Tickets can be purchased at the Peachtree Road Farmers Market.
The tickets can also be purchased online at www.slowfoodatlanta.org or http://www.brownpapertickets. com/event/236974.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Atlanta Chapter of Slow Food
International and the Peachtree Road Farmers Market. Those looking to churn up
the competition can email slowfoodatl@gmail.com for complete details.

Farmers Market Manager Lauren Carey also told BuckheadView about another promotion that is going on each week "for as long as we can afford to do it." It is a "Buy 7" promotion that offeres shoppers the chance win back some of the money they spent.
Here is how it works: The shopper buys 7 fruits or vegetables from one of the market vendors and goes to the market's tent to register to win that week's cash prize. The market crew will do a drawing at the end of that week's market to determine the winner. We may have not heard this correctly, but we believe Carey said the prize each week will be a $20 gift card to the Peachtree Road Farmers Market for as long as the funds last.
